affordable housing
new build
A redevelopment on the site of an existing sheltered housing scheme to provide a total of 76 new homes, including a 47 unit Extra Care scheme, plus 7 wheelchair accessible affordable rented flats and 22 flats for shared ownership.
The site is enclosed by rear gardens and allotments and the design is heavily influenced by it’s ‘green’ setting. The buildings will have a highly thermally efficient envelope, using environmentally sourced materials and will achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and 4.
The Extra Care accommodation comprises fully wheelchair accessible self-contained one and two bedroomed flats with communal facilities and staff accommodation. The aim is to provide a range of social and support services for both the residents and the local community. Facilities include a commercial kitchen, café area, flexible dining/ activity space, a variety of informal seating / meeting spaces and therapy/consulting rooms.
The scheme started on site in Spring 2009 and is due for completion in 2010.
