A two-stage feasibility study, which looked at options for the extension and improvement of an existing primary school, in order to meet the National Curriculum requirements for Early Years. The purpose of the initial study was to assemble base information and to establish some broad principals for future development whilst the second stage study investigated the options in more detail, with preliminary costs.
The study looked at three main areas of the school: a new nursery to be built in the playground and relocation of the reception class, new school garden and access for outdoor learning; relocation of the school’s kitchens, possibly combined with dining facilities, and relocation of the school office and Head’s office to the ground floor combined with a new main entrance to the school and the possible future addition of a lift, to provide access to all floors.
