affordable housing
Redevelopment of two small infill sites to provide a total of 11 two bed affordable homes (shared ownership and affordable rent). Both sites are tightly constrained due to their size and relationships with surrounding buildings. They are in an area of high flood risk, adjacent to the Woolwich ferry terminal, which precludes any residential accommodation at ground floor level. The elevations are carefully detailed to avoid any potential overshadowing or loss of privacy and the ground floor includes decorative screens, which allow natural ventilation, but discourage fly-posting.
The scheme is designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3. It will be highly thermally efficient, with potential for solar thermal panels and bio-diverse green roofs.
